A joyful ensemble collage for art4charity's open-air staging of Shaw's Pygmalion.

Pygmalion

art4charity produces theatre as a charitable project, and for its staged reading of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, the visual needed to feel inviting to both audiences and potential donors: theatrical, warm and full of character, without becoming provocative or overly formal.

I developed the poster, invitations and website assets in collaboration with photographer Ine Gundersveen. We began with an outdoor shoot at Jeannette Meinl’s home, already planning the final image as an ensemble collage. As not every actor was available on the first day, I later photographed additional cast members myself and brought the full group together in the final composition.

The result uses the garden setting, period costumes and the assembled cast collage to establish a light, celebratory mood. The ornamental title treatment gives the poster a playful theatrical presence, while the many faces make the production feel open, social and ready for an afternoon in Shaw’s Covent Garden.
