In autumn 2024, Mario Wienerroither called to tell me he had won the tender for the redesign of ORF Konkret. The jingle that helped secure the commission was one I had originally written for a pitch we had worked on together years earlier.
We returned to that piece and reworked it for the new brief: a visual and sonic redesign intended to position the format more clearly within the report and news landscape. The main title remained the centre of the work; its musical language then became the basis for the beds, separators and other on-air elements the programme needed.
Returning to professional music after years focused on graphics, web, video and layout was challenging, but very welcome. In an industry where pitch work often has no guarantee of a life beyond the presentation, it felt especially meaningful to give an earlier piece a real place to live. It is now heard as part of a format that airs five times a week on Austria’s national broadcaster.
