For Vienna Theatre Project’s staged reading of Amir Nizar Zuabi’s Grey Rock, I developed the poster and campaign visuals around one fragile image: a balloon carrying the moon.
Set in a small West Bank village, the play follows Yusuf, a retired TV repairman who secretly tries to build and launch a rocket to the moon. Rather than illustrating that rocket literally, I used the moon balloon to hold the central contradiction of the story: a dream that seems impossible, but still has the power to move people.
Its rainbow-coloured trail rises through smoke toward a horizon that could be either dusk or dawn. The image leaves space for the play’s wit and poetry while carrying its belief that hope and optimism can remain meaningful, even when nothing around you promises change.
